We all share a common goal to keep our precious children safe from the risks associated with Internet use. However, we need to reflect on the real implications of a social media ban for minors. What would be the consequences for Australians if such a measure were put in place? It would mean that every user would have to verify their age to access social media platforms. The only realistic way to enforce this would be to link social media accounts to a government-approved digital ID, Passport, Driver’s Licence or through the use of biometric data.
The government’s plan for age verification to access the internet may sound like a noble effort to safeguard children from social media exposure, but don’t be misled by this seemingly protective measure. However, it is important to remain cautious of this initiative, as it appears to be a precursor to the establishment of a digital identification system that could incorporate biometric information. This initiative would grant the government control over your online identity every time you log in to certain accounts. Don’t let the government deceive you. May God bless you all.
