The current challenges within our healthcare system are becoming increasingly evident due to issues such as ambulance ramping, persistent staff shortages, and excessively long wait times in emergency departments. These factors contribute to insufficient care for South Australian patients and limit access to crucial healthcare services in rural communities.
To effectively address the public healthcare challenges, it will require a comprehensive array of policies at both federal and state levels.
A critical federal initiative will be the extensive reform of Medicare, which is increasingly burdened in its present state, which lacks sustainable funding under current frameworks, and does not adequately compensate general practitioners.
Starting with Medicare reforms is a vital and necessary move that will significantly improve the quality of life in our magnificent state of South Australia and our entire country.
I will work diligently to improve the quality of our Healthcare system by pursuing several key initiatives:
- Encourage both local and federal government to increase funding and resources for ambulance services. By allocating more funding and resources will lead to Faster Emergency Response times, ultimately saving lives and ensuring our communities receive the timely care they deserve.
- Enhancing our emergency response capabilities through investment in cutting-edge technology and modern equipment for Ambulances, Police, and Fire Services.
- Improving access to Telehealth services and technology to support more effective consultations in rural communities.
- Encourage the development of legislative measures that ensure Equal Funding for Hospitals from the Commonwealth and state governments, which would lead to improved access to healthcare and a broader array of services available to the public.
- Urge the government to enhance its investment in Home Care Services to effectively manage and reduce the waiting list for home care packages.
